Hosted by the Visit Korea Committee, the Korea Grand Sale is a promotional event for the vitalization of shopping and tourism to enable foreign tourists to experience Korea in various aspects including food, lodging and various performances in addition to shopping. A total of 92 companies and more than 27,000 stores including major department stores, duty-free shops, hotels, retail outlets, shopping malls and entertainment agencies have already applied to take part in the event and the number of participating stores is expected to increase until the end of this year. In this year’s occasion, plans to put more weight on the improving of convenience for foreign tourists are being implemented to allow easy access to information on the Korea Grand Sale, discount benefits and various events. In particular, a mobile device-optimized website is in the works for easy access to information anytime, anywhere even on the move, and free Wi-Fi will also be provided in special tourist zones around Seoul. Meanwhile, the Visit Korea Committee will hold an overseas information session for overseas travel agencies and pressmen in Tokyo, Japan on October 31 and Beijing, China on November 7. Through the session, the committee will spur the attraction of foreign tourists by promoting “Korea Grand Sale” and “Must-See Routes in Korea” with local governments and participating companies of Korea Grand Sale.
